Parks Victoria: Jells Park
It was about ten years ago my family and I first visited Jells Park, and it was the only park we visited ever since. I have many memories at Jells Park not only playing in the many playgrounds and having barbeques, but also the sense of exploration and freedom that myself and two siblings experienced. The older we got the less we visited Jells Park until we eventually stopped going all together.
Going back this year for the first time in an extensive time, I did not expect to have such a nostalgic sense of the park. I along with my sibling found ourselves experiencing a sense of curiosity, discovery and adventure that we felt when we were visiting the park many years ago. We found ourselves feeling calm and free when delving into nature by surrounding ourselves with nothing but the waters, trees, dirt and even the native wildlife.
I question why we suddenly stop allowing ourselves to slow down and surround ourselves with a powerful natural environment. This experience made me realise how important it is to re connect with nature and that our natural curiosity does not stop as we get older. I will definitely visit Jells Park again.
